Playing at The Old School Inn, Epworth in July 2004

The Old School Inn, Epworth 9 July 2004

The bad weather of recent weeks failed to dampen the atmosphere at The Old School Inn, Epworth as popular jazz group "Room21" moved indoors for their programme last Friday evening. Led by Andy Jakob from the tenor saxophone, the group of local adult musicians put on a varied and entertaining display to a packed function room of jazz enthusiasts. The two guest singers, Louise Dean and Barry Scully, sung their hearts out in such popular standards as Summertime, I Got Plenty of Nuttin', Satin Doll, And I Love Her, That Old Black Magic and Georgia whilst the band accompanied tastefully and let rip when it was their turn. There was some stylish playing from the trumpets, saxes and rhythm section, but it was the solo towards the end of the night by drummer Robin Walker that really raised the roof. The band rose to their feet at the end to take the extended applause. Everyone present had enjoyed themselves and a charity raffle contributed £180.61 to MacMillan Cancer Relief, the nominated charity of the School Inn Golf Society for 2004.
